4th Grade Math
Students have been working hard to learn all about benchmark fractions and decimals. Students are expected to understand place value through the hundredths place to the right of the decimal this year. We relate it to money often, and use base ten pieces and the number line to model the amounts. We use egg cartons, geoboards, the clock and money to depict fractions. We finished the unit this past week and students took the end of unit assessment. We will continue with our Number Corner activities next week which are geometry related.
5th Grade Math
Students have been learning about decimals through the thousandths place. They are working to add and subtract decimals as well as multiply and divide decimals by a power of 10. Students have also been practicing dividing larger numbers by a double-digit number. Their calendar grid is related to geometry concepts. Thet began the first half of the unit assessment and will complete it next week.
***I am setting students up with passwords and activities on splashmath.com. I can assign them certain activities that align with our units and also their needs. I will get the login information to you by Wednesday and students will then be able to practice math over the break. I can monitor their work from my end, so I am able to change the activities if need be.
