We definitely have some snowy recesses ahead of us. Sounds like fun!
LITERACY-
Students are getting ready for the Wax Museum, which will be on March 3rd from 1:00-2:00. Students will pretend they are the subject they have been studying. They have read books and online sources, taken notes, written reports, created timelines and backdrops in order to present their new learning to you! Students should begin to think about a costume for the big day and let me know if there are items they hope to wear that they can not collect. It would be great if you could talk to them about this as well! On March 3rd students will be statues in the gym. When you come press their "button" they will come to life and present their speech, pretending to be the person they studied. We really hope to see you that day.
Students also began reading new books in their book groups last week and we began reading the first Harry Potter for our read aloud.
MATH-
Both groups took end of unit assessments and began new units. The links to overviews of the new units were included in the last post. Check them out! Students are currently working on creating some videos about the strategies that may seem new to you. I am hoping to add these to this blog as they are completed!
The Geobee was last week and two 4th graders made it to the Top 10, Natalie and Jameson and two 5th graders, Bella, Jonas! Congratulations! Fourth graders have begun interviewing local residents about the history of the town. They began with Salisbury's town clerk and town treasurer. On March 4th they will be sharing information at Town Meeting. You will receive more detailed information soon.
